Rebranding youtube ...

My Final year major Project which was a campaign to boost the monetization of Youtube.

rebranding utube 1

For my final year project, I chose to do a rebranding of YouTube. Over 2017 Youtube had been having problems with losing advertisers on the site due to a string of controversies.

My campaign would be a multi-faceted approach including posters, social media and websites. The eventual goal of getting advertisers to regain their trust in Youtube. I took the role of an independent adviser pitching this approach to YouTube.

Student Show Pitch...

A five-minute pitch to try and win the chance of running the Student final year show.

£££

For our end of year show, we were to present our work to industry professionals. We were all given a chance to be the manager of the class, with full control over the direction of the show. To gain the position we had to present our idea to the class and have everyone vote a winner.

My concept made it into the top 5 presentations. The theme I proposed was one of adoption. Specifically, Industry professionals adopting our work to take on as a project.

Computers For Africa...

Our challenge was to present a piece of advertising in an anti-consumerism way.

As part of my anti-advertising course, we were given the task to try and take on a cause and market in a unique way.

Inspired by a recent news story of a Ugandan teacher forced to teach IT class with a blackboard rather than computers I proposed a campaign that partnered with Computers For Africa. The campaign would highlight the ubiquity of computer screens in developed countries and how things might be without them. This would drive people to donate computers they didn't use anymore to the charity.

Debate Society Recruiting.,..

As Secretary of my University Debate Society it was up to me to find new blood.

During my second year of Uni, I won the elections in debate society to be made its secretary. One of my tasks was to set up a stall at freshers fair and recruit new members to the club.

I saw this as a good opportunity to utilise my marketing skills and designed a banner and custom sign-up sheets in order to attract more people over to my stand. I managed to fill out over three pages of sign-ups in the four hour fair.

Anti Advertising VLOG...

The task? Making a meal with locally sourced ingredients. But this VLOG had a twist.

£££

For our anti-advertising module, we were tasked with making video diaries of an anti-consumer practice. This could include things like shopping without plastic bags or eating only organic produce. I chose to try the challenge of cooking meals with only locally sourced ingredients.

However, the area I live in has a notable lack of food retailers, causing me to have a mixed result. I decided to roll with this humorous outcome and incorporate it into the video, the final more a commentary on trying to buy higher quality ingredients in more run down areas.

Poster Designs...

Our task was to come up with a poster design for a new season of some fictional TV show.

£££

We were given the task of creating poster/splash page designs for fictional television shows.

I made sure to make use of positioning and body language to encapsulate the theme of different kinds of television shows in my work.

Handicap Solidare Burkina Website...

£££

While working for a charity in Africa my role was to translate the whole website from french to English.

While Volunteering for three months in Burkina Faso in 2014 I worked for the charity and school Handicap Solidare Burkina. Along with my other roles, I was also tasked with renovating the website. Many of the links were broken and the entire website was in French when an English version was required.

The conditions for working on the website weren't ideal. I was using my own laptop and did not have a very good internet connection but I succeeded in setting up a separate English version of the site as well as fixing and renovating its aspects.

Assisted in improving the UK Foundations Website.

£££

During the Industry Experience section of my course, I took up a position as an intern at UK Foundations. A charity for patients recovery of certain surgical operations.

Amongst my jobs was also improving their website - which needed to be changed due to a recent name change and restructuring within the company. I fixed the problems and overhauled the website alongside other tasks.
